Click anywhere in the test area to begin, then move your cursor to the green START circle.

How to Take the Mouse Precision Test

  1. Select a trail width: Wide, Medium, or Narrow.
  2. Move your cursor from the green START zone through the winding corridor.
  3. The timer begins when your cursor enters the start area.
  4. Every wall touch counts as a fault. Reach the FINISH zone to complete the test.

This test evaluates fine motor control rather than raw speed. Rushing leads to more wall touches.

Why Precision Matters

Mouse precision is distinct from click speed or reaction time. It measures how accurately you can move your cursor — a skill used in design software, spreadsheet editing, gaming, and everyday navigation. This test gives you a measurable benchmark for cursor control.

Mouse Precision Test FAQ

What does this test measure?

It measures your cursor control precision — how accurately and steadily you can move your mouse along a defined path.

Does mouse DPI affect the results?

Yes. Very high DPI makes fine control harder. If you struggle on the narrow trail, try lowering your mouse DPI.

Can I use a trackpad?

Yes, but results will differ from mouse performance. The test is primarily designed for mouse users.

How is the score calculated?

Your score combines completion time and fault count. A fast time with zero faults is the best possible result.
